HELLBOUND

Hellbound

Korean culture is encapsulating the world at a rapid pace. K-pop, K-dramas, and other sources of Korean entertainment are very warmly welcomed and received by the world. Squid Games is a prime example. It came and conquered Netflix. People loved the show, and it broke all the previous records. No other show was expected to share the popularity of Squid Games for the next few years at least. But little did they know. Netflix crashed on Korean popularity, and here we welcome another Korean show, Hellbound.

SUCCESS

Directed by Yeon Sang-Ho, Hellbound is a thrilling drama. Season 1 consists of six episodes. Released in November 2021, Hellbound jumped at the first position in the list of most-watched television shows. And the best part is, the Netflix original took just 24 hours to achieve this status, while Squid Games took eight days to accomplish this feat. The series topped the view charts of more than 80 countries within the first 24 hours of its premiere. The first three days made a record of 43 million “hours watched,” which is most for any English and non-English speaking country. Therefore, we can say that Hellbound has officially dethroned Squid Games!

PLOT

This Korean masterpiece is a dark fantasy with explosive scenes. The plot revolves around following individuals who have been given prophecies of being dragged to hell due to the sins they have committed at any point in their lives. Their devils hunt them and kill them mercilessly. The Korean choreography makes it even dark and troubling. Not revealing any spoilers yet, you can find Hellbound on Netflix if you haven’t seen it yet.
