Lewandowski Transfers To Barcelona

Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski is set to leave Bayern Munich and join FC Barcelona. The talks had been going on for a while, and finally, both parties confirmed the deal. Barca fans are elated over the news as Lewandowski has been instrumental in Bayern’s success over the past few years. A new ray of optimism has unraveled for the fans, who will place their teary eyes towards Robert Lewandowski, hoping he to save the sinking Catalonia.


Robert Lewandowski expressed his desire to leave Bayern in May. He stated that transfer was the best option. A player of his caliber drew a lot of eyes, but FC Barcelona got to have the last laugh. According to ESPN, both parties agreed to a whopping $45 million, with an additional $5 million in potential add-ons.


Robert Lewandowski has been a clinical part of FC Bayern Munich for the past eight seasons. Bayern has managed to win Bundesliga titles in all these seasons. Moreover, the tremendous success for the German club in these past eight seasons has been the UEFA Champions League 2020. With Bayern Munich, the 33-year-old Polish striker has played 375 games. His record has been outstanding; finding the net 344 times and 72 assists are the headlines of such a phenomenal record with Bayern. He was named the Best FIFA Men’s player in the past two seasons. Moreover, he has also been the Polish Footballer of the Year 10 times during his tenure. 


Lewandowski hasn’t just played for Bayern in his overall career. Before Bayern Munich, he played for Polish club Lech Poznan from 2008 to 2010. After that, he played for another German club and Bayern’s arch-rival, Borussia Dortmund, from 2010-2014. 


Lewandowski will join FC Barcelona and Rafinha, who came over in transfer from Leeds United. Ousmane Dembele has also been given an extended contract till 2024 to assist these two superstars. These new signings have given the fans a new hope, who haven’t seen much but disappointment from the side for the past couple of years. This past season, Barcelona finished second behind Real Madrid in the Spanish league La Liga. The club could not advance past the group stage in UEFA Champions League.
