LUCKY GROUP TO START PRODUCING SAMSUNG DEVICES IN PAKISTAN

Samsung is keen to set up its production houses in Pakistan.

Lucky Motor Corporation signed a venture with Samsung in July. The agreement declared the production of Samsung mobile phones at Lucky motor’s automobile plant located at Karachi’s Port Qasim.

VISION 2022

Pakistan’s  ‘MDMP’ Vision 2022 had an aim to locally manufacture at least 80% of all phones sold in Pakistan. First, the DIRBS system set the heads straight by eliminating smuggling and the illegal transition of mobile phones. In addition, it helped increase the trust of foreign companies in Pakistan. Next, the Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy (MDMP) concentrated its efforts towards bringing in the companies. So far, Nokia, Itel, Tecno, Vivo, Infinix, Realme and Oppo have begun manufacturing processes in Pakistan. In addition, Samsung is all set to start its operations by the end of this year. The experts and economists have regarded this development as a good sign for Pakistan’s economy and future of technology.

THE BENEFITS

This joint venture between Samsung and Lucky Motors can be very vital for Pakistan’s technology sector.

This venture is expected to make way for more companies in future. Moreover, the manufacturing processes being held in the country can help decline the prices of the product. As a result, exports will also get a hike and can help in stabilizing the ever-declining economy.

When the automobile companies like Toyota, Honda and KIA started their manufacturing in Pakistan, it created job opportunities and accelerated the technology sector. Experts state that the entrance of mobile phone manufacturers can pose the same kind of impact. Samsung’s involvement will also increase the competition amongst brands, and the local production houses will get better with time.

The Pakistani government has ensured full support to Samsung and all other mobile phone manufacturers present in Pakistan. Therefore, the government is optimistic about its MDMP policies and are confident of its progress.

What’s next? Apple? Maybe.
