Real Madrid of the 2010s was a whole separate vibe. And this is not only a Madridista’s view, but the Barca fans also accept this whole-heartedly. The football club representing the Spanish capital was one of the most prolific clubs in Europe. During this period, the club won a lot of fans that still have those affective affiliations with the white top. The start of the previous decade was itself very big. The 2011-12 season was a record-breaking one for Real Madrid. Sadly, no one talks about it due to bottling up the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. Apart from that, under the management of Jose Mourinho, it was one of the best seasons Madrid has ever had.
THE DREAM SEASON
Roma FC’s current head coach Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Real Madrid was no less than carnage. The word ‘domination’ is not enough to refer to the European giant’s performance that season. The likes of Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Sergio Ramos made sure that the season turned out to be a memorable one. In the 2011-12 season, Real Madrid scored a freaking 121 goals in their 38 league games! An average of 3.1 goals per game. Mourinho won 32 games that season including 16 away games. Finishing on 100 points, Real Madrid conquered La Liga with ultimate ease. Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, and Karim Benzema scored goals for fun. Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria created some phenomenal assists. However, failing to achieve the Champions League dream that season is the only reason Mourinho’s tenure at the club is so criminally underrated. Nevertheless, it was a memorable season for the fans.
